New Delhi: The CBI has presented its report to the anti-corruption Lokpal Lokpal in connection with the cash-for-kweeri case, which includes Lok Sabha MP Mahua Motra and Darshan Darshan Hiranandani. The content of the report has not been revealed yet. The Lokpal will study the findings of the investigation and give further instructions to the agency. Officials said that a charge sheet can be filed based on the findings of the report. In March last year, the CBI lodged an FIR against Moitra in connection with the case in terms of Lokpal. The Lokpal issued instructions to the CBI after receiving the conclusions of the agency’s preliminary inquiry in the allegations made by BJP Lok Sabha member Nishikant Dubey against Moitra.Motra was accused of asking Hiranandani in exchange for cash and gifts to target industrialist Gautam Adani and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The agency later investigated businessman Darshan Hiranandani and a dozen others in the case.Earlier, Hiranandani had presented a “oath” and notary affidavit to the Lok Sabha’s Ethics Committee, alleging that Motra provided him with “Parliament Login and Password” so that he could “directly post questions on his behalf when needed”.Motra replied, saying that the gifts he had received from Hiranandani, CEO of Hiranandani Group, was “a dupatta, a lipstick and one eye shadow”. The Lok Sabha expelled Moitra in December 2023 for “immoral conduct”. Motra challenged his expulsion in the Supreme Court.
