Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has reinstated four of the five police officers suspended in a stampede of June 4 outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, killing 11 people.The decision to restore the officers – in which former Police Commissioner of Bangalore city B Dayanand, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Shaker H Tekkananwar, ACP C Balkrishna, and Inspector Ak Girish – were informed through a government’s circular, stating that disciplinary action was still pending against them.Fifth Officer – Additional Commissioner of Police (West) Weeksh Kumar Vikash – remains suspended. A source said, “Vikash challenged his suspension before the Union Administrative Tribunal, which called the order unfair.The order stated that the suspension was canceled on the basis of the reports of judicial and magisterial inquiry, as well as requesting representatives, restoration from the authorities. Further action will depend on the result of departmental proceedings, the order is clear.
