A police inspector in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh was allegedly threatened with an optical shop owner on CCTV and left without paying for the pair of glasses. The video recorded at Chashma Point on 25 July has gone viral on social media.In the footage, the inspector is seen speaking in a threatening tone and said, “I will not pay. Whatever you can do, do what,” before going out with glasses.The shop owner Ajit Singh said that the officer had come to convert the lens into an old pair of glasses, for which the repair fee was Rs 800. While the inspector had earlier paid an advance for a separate pair glasses, Singh said that unpaid amount was for this separate repair.Meanwhile, the Mirzapur police also released a statement and later accepted the situation and clarified some facts. He confirmed that when the inspector had actually paid advance for a pair of glasses, he refused to pay an additional Rs 800 for separate lens replacement and was firm despite the opposition from the shopkeeper. Later, the police officer left the shop without paying the remaining amount.
