North Carolina Central Football Coach Cyi Oliver spoke of a memorable situation that she experienced during his time while patrolling a college football sideline.
Oliver said that in the last season, he discovered a Viriginia Tech Hokies Assistant Football Coach, who was trying to recruit one of his star players from the sideline.
Eagles coach suggested that the assistant’s alleged, unauthorized in-game recruitment was part of an attempt to convince a race to enter a transfer portal.

Oliver told reporters, “Virginia Tech was actually recruiting our running back on my sideline.” According to Wral News. “It was very bold. I could not believe it.”
While Oliver reduced the player’s naming, he noticed that he was running back which he was eventually transferring to Virginia.

Running back the first-team all-MEC honor during his standout tenure at NCCU is listed in the UVA roster, running back.
The NCCU coach also indicated that he knew about the objectives of the assistant coach at that time.
“I knew what it was,” said Oliver.

Shortly after Oliver raised the allegations, Virginia Tech issued a statement stating that it was not previously known about the issue, but was ready to start an investigation into the claims.

The team said, “This is the first time that the issue has been brought to our attention, and there is no concern before any formal channel.” “Virginia Tech takes all NCAA rules seriously and is committed to conduct our program with integrity. We are reviewing the matter internal and will appropriately address any conclusion.”

Virginia Tech closed the regular season of 2025 with a trip on Charlotsville November 29. Oliver will be a cavalchers fan that day as he roots for his former player. He even predicted a magnificent UVA win.
“Thank God that he went to Uva,” Oliver said, “and UVA is going to defeat smoke from others.”
