President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he had spoken to the leaders of Cambodia and Thailand, urging a ceasefire, adding America to the “trading table” with Southeast Asian countries until it would stop until it stops.
Trump, as part of the five -day visit to the United Kingdom, in Scotland wrote on the truth social Saturday, “I made a very good call with the Prime Minister of Cambodia, and informed him of my discussions with Thailand and its acting Prime Minister.”
“Both sides are looking for an immediate ceasefire and peace. They are also trying to return to the ‘trading table’ with the United States, which we think it is unfair to do so until the fight stops.”
The President said that Cambodia and Thailand have agreed to meet immediately and “quickly work in a ceasefire and finally, peace! It was an honor to deal with the two countries. They have a long and stored history and culture. They hope that they will meet for many years to come when they are done for many years. When all are done, and the trading compromises with both will be ready!”

The border struggle between the two countries continued till Saturday for the third day, causing at least 33 dead and 168,000 displaced.
After a landmine on the border, tension increased on Thursday and injured five Thai soldiers and the two countries blamed each other for the fight.
Thailand has closed its border with Cambodia, and both countries have called back their ambassadors.
On Saturday, Cambodia said 12 more people were killed, and Thai officials said one soldier died.

The United Nations Security Council has also called for a de-escillation for the fight, and Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sangimpongas said that the Association of South-West Asian Nation (ASEAN) had called for a peaceful resolution.
The current president of ASEAN Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said that the leaders of Thailand and Cambodia are open to a ceasefire.

However, he said Cambodia would need to stop fighting before considering Thailand’s ceasefire.
Cambodia’s Defense Ministry on Saturday, however, said “pre -aggressive and predetermined work” after the five heavy artillery shells were fired in a Cambodian province.
