Tate Modern has announced that it will expand the hours of its weekend opening in the autumn.
From 26 September, the London Art Gallery will open up to 21:00 BST on Friday and Saturday evening.
The move aims to give more visitors a chance to visit gallery after work, especially young people.
The move follows the success of Tate Modern Let’s, a series of curated evening events, which have welcomed more than 750,000 people since 2016.
Tate modern usually opens at 10:00 and closes every day at 18:00, and is free to enter.
Tate Modern Director Karin Hindusbo said: “In the last decade, Tate Modern Lets have become the foundation stone of London’s nightlife, especially among young London people who want to take maximum advantage of their city’s dynamic cultural view.”
He said that the opening of late opening would make the gallery “even more accessible”.
The Mayor of London said the move would help London to cement as the world’s cultural capital, anywhere with the best nightlife “.
Tate modern letters will continue even after the extended weekend hours are effective.
The events are held at the end of each month with artist talks, workshops, film screening and live music.
This included an acquisition by British rapper Little Simz last August, with 18,500 visitors to his curated exhibition and talking.
The next events in the Lates series are scheduled for August 28 and 26 September.
