As the inquiry about the death of J. Slater ended, his last hour’s key details were given.
The 19 -year -old, from Oswaldwistal at Lancashire, went missing in Tannerif in June 2024 after attending a concert.
His body was found by a hill rescue team in a remote and inaccessible region in a remote national park at the end of 29-day discovery.
The inquiry began in May in the court of Preston Koroner, but was postponed after an argument by Mr. Slater’s mother that the major witnesses who disappeared with her at night should be made to participate.
When some witnesses came forward, the courts were not able to contact Brandon Hodgson and Stephen Rokas, who were with Mr. Slater before disappearing.
After listening to all the evidence, Coroner Dr. James Adle ruled that “J Dean Slater died an accidental death” Without the influence of the third party, after the decline in a “particularly dangerous area”, resulting in the fracture of the skull and brain trauma that immediately killed him.
‘Our hearts are broken’
Mr. Slater was a trainee brickler on his first holiday with his friends, flying on 16 June 2024 to Tanef to attend the NRG Music Festival in Playa de Las America.
Speaking in his interrogation, Mam Debbie Duncan said that he was “a bundle of fun with a continuous smile”, he said “always new friends were made wherever he had gone”.
He said: “He had a big cycle of good friends, which has devastated his sad death.
“He loved and our hearts are broken. Our life will never be the same without Jai.”
At night, Mr. Slater’s friends went home, but said that he wanted to continue partying after taking drugs and alcohol.
He was found in a car with two men, which he was on leave and was taken to an AirBNB in a remote village of Masca, about 22 miles (36 km) away from where he was living.
His friend Bradley Goggon said that he said that Mr. Slater said “Maybe reaching there and thought, ‘Why am I here?” Sleep and decided to come back.
Mr. Joggan said that he had asked him to get the taxi back, but he decided to walk back – even though it was a 14 -hour journey and the lift was offered on the next afternoon.
Despite his friends searching for the region, there was no sign of Mr. Slater, and he did not return to his residence.
He was reported to be disappeared from the Spanish police on 18 June.
Local police and Mountain rescue teams started searching and their mother and brother rode in a flight for Taneurf.
‘Mark on that’
Mr. Joggan told a two -day inquiry that he last saw his friend on 17 June 2024 at around 02:40 BST.
Mr. Slater sent him a text message claiming that he was refused to enter the Papagoyo Night Club and claimed that “he had a mark”.
Mr. Joggan confirmed during the hearing that entering the nightclub was denied as Mr. Slater could not stand “.
He said that he went out to meet his friend and “he could now stand in the fresh air and was not so bad”.
He also confirmed that Mr. Slater had taken ecstasy and cocaine and may have been taken to ketamine.
missing data
Lancashire police details CH Inspector Rachel Higson, an expert in the digital department, told the inquiry about the analysis of the teenager’s phone.
An iPhone 14 was found on the body, and Mr. Slater was confirmed by telephone and email address on it.
During interrogation, it was confirmed that before an examination of the phone, some information and messages were lost due to “blocking various people on various social media sites”.
The coroner stated that it was “a criticism or a sensor in any form, but only one clarification was that some data were not available to interpret”.
Det Ch Isply Higson said that various messages on the phone confirmed that Mr. Slater had separated from his friends at some points during the early hours of the morning.
Lucy Law
Lucy Law, who had known Mr. Slater for almost six years, was the last person who spoke to him on the phone.
He told the interrogation of around 02:00 BST on the day of his disappearance, Mr. Slater left him and his friends, who were together on a club’s danceflor.
He then tried to find him.
When he eventually saw him, he told him that he was worried about him, but “he just felt funny”.
He said that a friend later called him to say that he was in the mountains and did not have much phone battery after leaving AirBNB.
He said that he felt that it was a joke until his friend said that it was more serious.
“I thought they were coming to me,” he said.
In one later phone call with Mr. Slater – the final known outgoing communication from his phone – he asked where he was and what he was doing.
She told her that she had missed a bus and decided to walk for a 14 -hour journey house, but was lost, water was needed and only 1% of the battery life left in her phone.
He told him that he was “in the middle of the mountains” and all around “nothing literally”.
“Until this stage, I am nervous,” she said in interrogation, she said that she urged her to go back from where she came.
The last phone call lasted for just 22 seconds and suddenly cut off. The hearing heard that it was possible that the phone abolished the call at such a low battery level.
When he did not come back, he installed a money raising page and urged the police to start a search.
Body found
The Spanish police had an approximate place to search, the rural de Teno Park, as Mr. Slater’s phone was away from a mast.
The search is largely in search of helicopters, drones, rescue teams and dogs, in which the crews are working through the difficult area and hack through a thick vegetation with the match.
With steep ravines and rocks in the landscape, Spanish authorities deployed helicopter crew, specially trained search dogs and drones.
Mr. Slater’s friends and family also discovered.
On July 15, the teams searched the treacherous Juan Lopez Ravin – a small used area without water – and the body of Mr. Slater.
About 66 feet (20 m) above where the body was found, Mr. Slater’s bag, with his phone and gas canteers, was discovered.
Spanish officials said that they cannot explain why Mr. Slater took “a chance” except the road.
But the sea can be seen from the head of the ravine, and he suggested that he could believe that he could reach a beach and seek help.
Their report states: “It will be easy to slip on rocks and fall into zero.”
Through the fingerprint test, the body was confirmed by the High Court of Canary Islands to become Sri Slater by the police and the Canary Islands.
Their injuries were in line with the height to fall from the height to the rocky ground.
Deficiency of appropriate clothing
Coroner Dr. James Adle said that contributing factors to fall could be suitable for adequate clothing, lack of sleep and lack of mountain training, as well as the effects of drugs were taken by Mr. Slater.
He said that the effect of the skull was sufficient to cause non-vampir brain injuries, even though he was immediate medical aid and the possibility of death was immediate, he said.
In many places there were fractures on his pelvis.
Koroner said that he hoped that it was “something consolation for the family” that Mr. Slater was not in pain.
Before concluding the inquiry, the coroner stated that “every indication was that J’s friends were concerned about him”, he said “attempts to find him and persuade him to return”.
“Especially Lucy Law made repeated efforts to find Jai and take care of his welfare in the evening,
“As Jai is an adult, he has every right to ignore such concerns and take his decision,” he said.
