Neymar has extended its contract with Brazilian club Santos by the end of December.
The 33 -year -old forward returned to his boyhood club at late January, but is limited by injuries. Their current deal was scheduled to end next week. Neymar and Santos confirmed the expansion on Tuesday.
Neymar said in a video on his social media channels, “I extended my contract with Santos. I went back, I came back and I stayed where all this started and where it will never end,” Neymar said in a video on his social media channels.
No party explained why they did not expand their contracts until mid -2026, when many Brazilians still expect them to play in the World Cup. Earlier in June, the new Brazilian coach Carlo Anseloti indicated that he was relying on Neymar’s recovery to play in the tournament in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
Since he left Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia for Santos, Neymar has played 12 matches, scored three goals and three assistance. He had two extended periods due to muscle injuries.
Neymar played 225 matches for Santos in his first spell. He scored 138 goals, many of them were important to win six titles among Brazilian veterans, who were re -accused in 2023 and returned to the top division last year.
His latest appearance for the team was a disappointing; After using his hand 1–0 after losing 1–0 in the 76th minute of Santos, Botfogo was damaged 1–0 at home.
Finding that he was not going to the ball with his head, before a defender could remove him, Neymar used his right hand to push the ball into the net.
Brazil already had a yellow card and was shown its second by referee, which then rejected the target. Botafogo then made the winner in the 86th.
Saudi club al-Hilal ended Neymar’s contract with mutual consent, six months ago, he played only seven matches. An ACL injury sidelined him for a year till October. Al-Hilal said that Neymar could no longer perform as if he used to do it.
Neymar also left Barcelona and Paris St.-Germen to criticize, despite completing silver utensils and goals.
Santos ranks 15th in the Brazilian league with 11 points after 12 matches.
