The Washington Post columnist Jonathan Caphart has allegedly accepted a purchase and is leaving Jeff Bezos -owned paper after nearly two decades.
In 1999, the Pulitzer Award for Editorial Writing with The New York Daily News, which has been an editorial writer for the Washington Post for 18 years. He was a member of the editorial board until 2022, when he left the board over an editorial on Georgia’s polling laws. He is leaving the paper after accepting a purchase, Exios reported monday.
The columnist, which also hosts the MSNBC show “Weekends with Jonathan Caphart” and comments on PBS “Newshor”, is the latest high-profile Washington Post Editorial contributor to get out of the paper.
The authors’ a gloss-en tailness, David Shiple, Ruth Marcus, Eugene Robinson and, earlier this month, which Davidson-SADILI left the beltway paper because the concerns were mounted on the editorial slant of the Washington Post, which was taking a correct change after the re-election of President Trump.

After Trump’s re-election, Jeff Bezos, the owner of the Washington Post and the founder of Amazon, announced that the editorial section of the paper would be changing the syllabus, which would motivate David Shipli, the editor of the then Udghosh.
“We are writing every day in support and defense of two columns: personal freedom and free market. We will also cover other subjects, but will be left to publish the outlook opposing those columns by others,” Bezos posted on X in 2025.
Bezos’ changes led to a sharp backlash in their news room, in which employees told Fox News Digital earlier this month that the morale had fallen on paper. Washington Post Executive Editor Matt Murray announced a purchase program for employees wishing to leave the paper in May.
A post staff told Fox News Digital, “People are shelkesk and keep their heads down.”
Washington Post Publisher and CEO Will Lewis sent a memorandum to the employees who encourage those who raised the issue with the new editorial direction of the paper to shop.

“I understand and respect, however, our chosen path is not for everyone, which is why we have introduced a voluntary separation program. As we continue in this new direction, I want to ask people who do not feel an alliance with the company’s plan to reflect on him,” Lewis has written in the memo.
Davidson, a post contributor who wrote to the “Federal Insider” column of the post for 17 years, announced that he was leaving the paper in a Facebook post, titled “left the Washington Post – or did it leave me?” He said that he decided to get out of the paper after a column was dismissed for “very opinion”.
Caphart’s relationship with the Washington Post is rapidly spicy. In his recent memoir, “So far, I am: Lesson’s from a black man’s search for home,” the former columnist trapped many of his colleagues in the editorial board of the post. He accused Karen Tumor, a member of the editorial board of the Washington Post, of “robbing me” in disagreement on the language used in an op-ed.

The Washington Post contributor has a history of vicious trump-trump criticism. At one point, he stated that Maga was more “worrisome” than any foreign threat to the country, which could face the US PBS in the 2021 segment on the Newshore.
