Homeland security secretary Christie Nom on Monday visited the Customs and Border Security Officer, who was shot in New York City over the weekend, including an already illegal illegal immigrants.
The off-duty officer was allegedly killed on his face at Rivaruside Park in Manhattan on Saturday night. Miguel Francisco Mora Nunez, a Dominican National who was caught by the border petrol in April 2023, was taken into custody after the shooting, while his alleged companions remained loose on Monday.
“A witness to the attack is that a robbery is attempted-he and the afflicted water were sitting on the rocks when 2 subjects on a scooter left them and closed the passenger from behind and contacted them with a firearm. Off-duty CBP said while leaving his own gun.
“The CBP officer was shot in his right hand and left cheek. Thankfully the officer is in a stable position in the hospital,” said this.

Nunez was also injured during the shootout and was shot at the leg and waist. According to officials, he was left in a hospital in Bronx.
“Suspected Miguel Francisco Mora is a national and citizen of the Republic of Dominican. Re-entered and released under Biden- on April 4, 2023, United States Border Patrol placed him near San Louis, AZ,” NOM wrote on X before the hospital visit.
He said, “The criminal has a criminal warrant in Massachusetts for kidnapping and he was accused of a series of crimes,” he said.

After being arrested on the Erizona border, Nunez was released in the US, although he still has an active exile order.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams has described Nunez as “21 -year -old man, who is an order prior arrest to attack and violate for safety.”
