New Delhi: Vice President Jagdeep Dhikar on Sunday called for unity for unity amidst the controversies over languages across the country.Beyond the monsoon session of Parliament, Dhankhar said that India is the richest country when he comes in languages.“We have rich languages- Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Marathi. We have classical languages. We are the richest at the world when it comes in languages,” said Dhankhar.“So, how can language be divisive? Language we should unite. People who want to divide or engage in divisive strategy due to language need to join our culture. Our languages are not limited to our country; they are known globally,” they said.It comes when “Language War” has erupted in various parts of India, including Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.Earlier this month, the Maharashtra government withdrew its decision to introduce Hindi as a third language in government schools.The three -language policy snowed a “Marathi identity” crisis, due to which political activists have threatened Hindi speakers in the state.Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu government has also accused of implementing Hindi through the National Education Policy (NEP).
