According to officials, an off-duty customs and Border Safety and Border Security (CBP) officer were shot in New York City on Saturday night, according to officials, an already exiled immigrant was included.
Speaking to Fox News, the Homeland Security Department (DHS) identified the suspect as Miguel Francisco Mora Nunez, a Dominican National, who was caught by the Border Patrol in April 2023.
After being arrested on the Erizona border, he was released in the US, although he still has an active exile order.
President Donald Trump weighed in shooting on Sunday afternoon, writing:
“Last night, in the city of New York, an incredible CBP officer was shot on the face by an illegal foreign monster, which was freed in the country under Biden. He was caught on the border in April 2023, but instead of being excluded, it was released,” Trump wrote. “The CBP officer bravely fought his attacker, despite his wounds, demonstrating heavy skills and courage. Democrats have flooded our nation with criminal invaders, and now, they should be thrown out or, in some cases, immediately sued that we could not take a chance that they are able to return.”
