DehradunOfficials said nine Indian Army personnel in the devastating flash flood in the Kheer Ganga River were still 4 km from Harshil on the gangotary highway due to massive destruction in Dharli village and hit the army camp in the area.
Lieutenant Colonel Manish Srivastava Pro (Defense) Dehradun said that two army personnel who were missing after flash flood were detected and rescued. He said, “Cut -off and unit base was adversely affected and 9 personnel were feared to be missing, the team continues to work with unbreakable determination,” he said.
He said that Col. Harshvardhan, Commanding Officer of 14th Battalion Rajputana Rifles, led 150 personnel in significant rescue and relief operations in view of the disastrous Madslide in Kheer Gad, Dharli, personally.
“Torrential rain and collapsed connectivity have not stopped their resolve to protect every citizen. Under extreme adversity, their patience reflects the real spirit of the Indian Army, flexible, selfless and always ready to serve the nation. Meanwhile, in the meantime, additional columns are being pressed into rescue operations”, he said.
Earlier in the evening, Brigadier Mandip Dhillon, Brigade Commander, Ibex Brigade said, “The rescue operation is going on. We reached the site within ten minutes because our unit is near the Harsil camp.
