Researchers say that a lake trout has recently been occupied in Lake Superior is believed to be the oldest-known sample of its species that is caught in Great Lex, which is 62 years old.
Fish was collected in the Clondic Reef in Autumn 2023 by researchers with Michigan Department of Natural Resources with many universities and American fish and wildlife service.
According to DNR, one of the collected fish samples may not have left the scales of any physical record, weighing less than 5 pounds and measured in length of only 2 feet, but it is definitely qualified as the oldest fish between five great lakes.

The fish is believed to have been composed in 1961, a man long before walking on the moon, the first known test-tube child before the child, and even before the murder of President John F. Kennedy. DNR officials said, “With some eccentric arguments, if the fish had passed through human schooling, it would have graduated as President Barack Obama and Wales Princess Diana.”
A specific lake trout in Lake Superior is considered about 25 to 30 years old. Prior to this new discovery, the oldest trout stated in the lake estimated that it had reached the age of 42.
Researchers determined the age of the fish by counting the number of “rings” visible on the otolith of fish, or “ear stones”, which grows from years of fish life.

Michigan DNR stated that the employees have taken the fish to call “Mary Catherine”, as Mary was the most common name of the child’s most common names, the year trout was born.
Officials say they take fish samples to track population health, and Mary Catherine’s discovery indicates that the lake trout is good in the lake superior.
