A Midtown Manhattan, a police officer from New York City, is one of the four people killed in a shoot inside a high growth.
Police said Gunman went to the office building with a Sri Rifle in a clear view on Monday evening before spraying bullets in the lobby and on the upper floor. Then he took his life.
Shooting – In the center of the most populous American city – pedestrians running for cover were sent as the police warned an active gunman around 1830 ET. Those going inside the building resonated with bullets – anything was accumulating at the couch and doors as they hid in the offices.
Police say suspect, 27 -year -old Shane Dewon Tamura traveled from Las Vegas, but a purpose is not clear.
Among those who were killed were New York City officials Didarul Islam, who were doing security work in the building at the time of the attack. The three other victims have been identified so far.
New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tish said that the suspect entered the building at 345 Park Avenue, with businesses including National Football League (NFL) and investment management company Blackstone, and immediately set fire.
He shot Sri Islam badly in the lobby of the building, then targeted a woman, who covered behind a column. He proceeded through the lobby, hitting it with bullets, killing many people – with a security guard behind a desk and another person nearby.
As he was waiting for a lift, a woman stepped into, but the gunman spared her and let her pass, the commissioner Tish said.
He made his way on the 33rd floor – where the Ruden Building Management is located – and set fire again – before going down from a hallway, killed a person and shot himself in the chest, he added to the news conference on Monday night.
The authorities are uncertain about a motive, although the tish noted that the gunman had “documentation of mental health history.”
Shri Tamura stayed in Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa and New Jersey and traveled from Las Vegas to the eastern coast in the last few days. He arrived in New York shortly before the shooting. It is not clear whether he has any connection with New York, Building or Ruden Building Management.
The police searched the suspect’s BMW, which he doubled from the front, and found several magazine rounds and a revolver. The vehicle was registered at Sri Tamura in Nevada, a registered gun owner in the state.
Local officials and officials celebrated Islam on Monday night. “He died because he lived – a hero,” said Ms. Tish.
For three years, an officer, officer Islam was an immigrant from Bangladesh. He and his wife have two children, and his wife is currently pregnant with her third child.
“He was going to work that we asked him to do,” said Ms. Tish. “He made a final sacrifice.”
The incident stopped Midtown Manhattan and parts of public transport. At the scene, a BBC journalist took the score of police vehicles and at least one person to a blood -soaked chest on a stretcher.
Bystanders said that the gunshots and the police told those in the area in which BBC, including journalists, to give shelter in nearby buildings.
The police worked on the floor-by-floor to clean the building, an attempt that took hours.
Mama Buheni, nearby SIP and scoop coffee shops came out as an event, BBC reported that they were evacuated from nearby buildings.
He said that he grabbed his hand over his head.
Ms. Buheni said that she recognized many of them as customers. “This is very terrible for them, I hope they can go home safely.”
