According to the latest data released by the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), heavy monsoon rains continue in Himachal Pradesh, with 312 roads, including National Highway -305, blocked, 97 power transformer damaged, and 51 water supply schemes.
The SDMA said the cumulative death toll has reached 298 from June 20, of which 152 deaths occurred due to rain -related incidents such as landslides, flash floods and house collapse, while 146 deaths occurred due to road accidents.
The remaining casualties were held responsible for other reasons related to the ongoing monsoon season.
The Kullu District reported the highest road obstructions, including 101 routes, including NH -305, which shut down due to heavy rains, Balichowki, Gajdahar and Ferradanallah. Mandi chased with 160 blocked roads, while 21 were closed in Kangra. Other affected districts include Kinnur (2 roads), Chamba (2), Lahaul and Speti (1), Shimla (6), Sirmaur (6), and Una (11).
The power supply in Mandi district has been severely killed, where 70 distribution transformers (DTRs) were interrupted. Kullu reported 17 DTR failures, Kangra 6, Lahaul and Spiti 1, and Hamirpur 5.
In terms of water supply, the mandi faced the disintegration of 36 schemes, Lahaul and Speti 2, Kangra 8 and Kullu.
Officials warned of continuous risks from landslides and flash floods as India Meteorological Department keeps heavy rainfall alert for the next 72 hours. The SDMA reiterated its appeal to the public to avoid unnecessary travel in weak areas.
