District police and administrative officials on Monday rescued 22 people from an illegal drug de-addiction center in Langar Chhanni village of Saha area of Ambala district. The rescued persons were rushed to the Civil Hospital in Ambala Cantonment, from where the 17 was handed over to their family members on Monday night, while the rest were released on Tuesday.On receiving the information, the Ambala police raided the center and asked the operators to present the documents, but they failed to show any license or permission to run the facility. The operators are from Punjab, the police said.An official of the Saha police station said, “A drug-day-addition center was being run in the name of Will Power in Langar Chhanni village. When the police raided, the operator of the Center failed to produce any license or document. 23 The addicts were rescued from the spot and were taken to the Civil Hospital, Ambala Cantonment for treatment under the guidance of doctors from the Health Department. ,Police said that further action will be taken as per the report given by the officials of the Health Department.Ambala Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Mukesh said, “We came to know about the illegal drug de-addiction center from the SP office. The center operators have applied for a license, but they have not yet got it, yet they were running the center which is illegal. We brought 23 people for medical examination and psychiatric evaluation and later they were handed over to their family members through police.,
