A collision between an LPG tanker and a pickup truck on the Jalandhar-Hoshiyarpur highway near Mandiala village on Friday night caused a large-scale explosion, killing two people and injuring more than 50.
Suddenly around 10 o’clock, the sudden explosion was surrounded by nearby shops and residences, trapping the villagers, many of them were already sleeping, making it a very short time to escape.
The fire department and police rescue teams were injured in entire civil hospitals in Adampur, Hoshiarpur and Jalandhar.
The villagers, who were shaken by the bumps of the blast, filled the fuel by LPG and Pawan, to spread the flames faster, fear to save their lives. The relatives of the injured scrambled among hospitals to find their loved ones.
Eyewitnesses told the police that the tanker caught fire after a Mahindra pickup vehicle. The driver of the pickup, who remains unknown, succumbed to burning injuries after a fire in his vehicle.

One of the injured, Gurmukh Singh said that six members of his family suffered a burning injuries after his house near the accident site. “Our entire house entered the fire because we did not get enough time to save ourselves,” he said.
Hoshiarpur Civil Surgeon Pawan Kumar confirmed, “One person has been declared dead here, while five patients have been brought in critical condition. All the injured are being provided with immediate medical care. Civil and police administration has launched rescue operations. Several ambulances have been taken to the spot.”

Senior officials of the district administration reached the spot, and fire tenders were brought from Jalandhar, Adampur and Hoshiarpur to deal with the cymbals. Minister of Parliamentary Affairs of Punjab, Dr. Rawat Singh also visited the Mishap site and hospital. He promised all possible help to the affected families.
Hoshiarpur Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain said that teams of Adampur Air Base, Unchi Basi Army Cantonment and State Disaster Response Forces were called to assist in rescue operations. “A road accident caught fire between an LPG tanker and a pickup vehicle, resulting in a terrible incident,” Jain said.
