The song was “written as a clear reflection of a relationship, perhaps with a feeling of regret that where it has ended and where it begins”, Schneider explains.
“I remember writing that song and realizing that it was a very brief way to finish a record. And I remember that my wife said that she felt that she was really special. But she left for years and it was not that it was a hit or anything.
“And then things just started happening with it.”
The first thing was that Netflix Teen Drama was to be used on the soundtrack of 13 reasons, why in 2017.
First, the Schneider was uncertain whether it should be allowed to stay on the soundtrack, but his wife said to him: “Just do it, keep it on the show.”
The couple were in France at that time. “We had gone for a few months, and when we came back, I was like my manager, ‘Something happening with this song’,” The singers remember.
“I thought it would be a quick spike and then faded, but it is strange and very unheard of the long tail, where instead of falling in nothing, it collapsed and then slowly rising back. And it just seems to go on.”
Schneider recorded a doubles version in 2018 for another 13 reasons with Foebe Bridges. Why the scene in 2018. Most of the later leases have come from their popularity on Tikok.
It has defied music gravity every year by becoming more popular. In 2024, according to Chartmetric, it was about one billion streams at 57% higher than the previous year – about one billion.
The songs of the song returned at the beginning of a sour relationship: “I had all and then most of you / anything else now none of you / I took me back to the night we met.”

“I think everyone can be related to that kind of story and insert their biography in it,” the schneider reflects. “It is a ship that likes people’s personal stories very much. Perhaps that’s why people have such a permanent and slow effect.”
The singer says that the night we met came in a good moment in the band’s career, “Because we had already established ourselves in many ways”.
“We already had a very dedicated fanbase, so we are not necessarily a one-wander position by that song.
“Even though it removes our other songs in terms of streaming and everything, but we have enough to realize that we are only known for that a unique moment, which is very good.”
The band is actually much more than a song.
Lord Huran began as a single project in 2010, before the Schneider gathered a full line-up.
On Friday, he has released four albums of American, tortured, soulful and persecuting with fifth place on Friday.
His albums show the skills of the schidider as a lyricist along with a storyteller, often a running thread of a story.
Magic Jukebox
The new LP title is The Cosmic Selector Volume 1 – a 1950s style juice that can take people to alternative universe, where life is set on different paths after small decisions in the past.
“I think in the last few years, as I am a little older, I am just thinking about all the ways that my own life can go, or still, or maybe,” Schneider says.
“Not with any meaning of regrets, but all of this is more with a feeling of surprise on ransomism, and how different things can happen if very few things had gone in another way.
“So I started thinking about a collection of songs representing that randomism – lottery that has a lot in life.”
But the control of this magic is “bust”, they say.
“Everything is misled. You think what you are choosing can send you completely differently, and everything is on the menu – sorrow, happiness, horror, love – all ways can go a life.”
Therefore, various characters including a one have been voiced by actress Christon Stewart have been placed through this dimension-hoping, life-scrambling retro randomizer. Some people themselves are based on the schidider, others are making, they say.
Everyone has moments of their own slipping door when life could have been different. For Schneider, a Jazz Combo was played in an assembly at a grade school.
“I remember looking at the bass player and liked, ‘I could someday be in a band’, and a lightbull turned into my head,” he says. “I think there is a numerous of such moments where I could have chosen one thing and not, so it is attractive to consider.”
The moment in France when his wife persuaded her to allow her to use for 13 reasons, why there was another turn.
Schneider hit Jackpot in the lottery of life with that sleeper hit. Now he hopes that its popularity converts people into the rest of their music.
“I want to try to move forward and create new stuff,” he says. “And hopefully, whatever we do, the same effect will be the same effect of the song.
“And I think over time, I hope the stuff we have already made.”
