Police are searching for a suspect who shot and killed a person and injured six others at the South Minianpolis intersection in a broad day light on Tuesday.
According to Miniapolis police chief Brian O’Hara, Minianpolis police say the shooting took place in Clinton Avenue and East 29th Street before 1:30 pm.
O’Hara said, “This level of firepower is completely ill and unacceptable in the broad daylight.”
A person who lives in the area says that he and his family took refuge after listening to the bullets.
“We went to the basement,” said Eustassio Alatorre. “My wife is scared.”
When the police reached the spot, they found a person who was shot and killed. Other people who were shot – five men and a female – were found near the area.
Three of the victims have serious injuries, O’Hara said, they are expected to survive. He said that at least one of the victims was targeted in shooting.
A woman who works near the shooting says she was worried after hearing about the shooting, but appreciated the efforts of the police.
“I think the solution is actually doing what MPD is doing,” Loreta Aredondo said. “To be present. Be alert. Listen to the community.”
The police have not yet been arrested. The scene ran into the shooter vehicle, O’Hara said, and investigators are chasing the “strong leads”.
